This project is in development. I am developing an improved version of video conferancing that allows for both eye to eye contact and touch to touch contact. It combines video-conferancing, touch screen technology, and a unique set up of cameras, projectors and materials.
The ultimate goal is to produce video-conferancing software which simulates the two parties having just a glass wall between them. Suspended in this glass is the semi-transparent screen that they are working on. They can both interact with the information on the screen via touch from either side of the "glass".
My first step is to try and develop something simple to test the setup. Simulating a chess game is a good first test for the setup. The two remote players will be able to see each other (through the "glass") and watch as the other player physically makes their move on the board suspended between them.
